Winter Weather Advisory until 12:00PM Thursday

...SNOW AND ICE EXPECTED TODAY INTO EARLY THURSDAY... .Snow will overspread much of central Illinois through this afternoon, with a mix of sleet and freezing rain near Interstate 70. Precipitation will continue tonight and into early Thursday, with snow accumulations of 3 to 4 inches for much of central Illinois, with isolated 5 inch amounts. The wintry mix will keep snow totals near 2 inches along a Shelbyville to Paris line, with ice accumulations generally less than a tenth of an inch near the I-70 corridor.

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 o 4 inches north of I-70, with ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch near and south of I-70.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Illinois. The mixture of freezing rain and sleet is most likely near I-70 through this evening, before shifting south around midnight. Areas north of I-70 will see mostly snow.

* WHEN...Precipitation will expand across the area from late morning through mid afternoon, and continue into the evening, before slowly diminishing after midnight.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The evening commute will be impacted, with some lingering slippery conditions for the Thursday morning commute.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CRAWFORD ... SHELBY ... CLARK ... RICHLAND ... CLAY ... MOULTRIE ... EFFINGHAM ... EDGAR ... DOUGLAS ... JASPER ... LAWRENCE ... CUMBERLAND ... COLES
