Temple City Hosts Bike Expo and Community Ride

Temple City’s free, all-ages Bike Expo rolls into town Feb. 8, bringing a morning of socializing, safety and skill-building to Live Oak Park.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. with an hourlong community bike ride for riders ages 10 and over. The 3-mile ride will start and end at the park’s southern parking lot along Daines Drive.

Participants must bring their own bikes and helmets, and wear closed-toe shoes. The check-in process will begin at 7:30 a.m., as all riders must sign a waiver before the ride. Parking will be available at Live Oak Park Community Center, 10144 Bogue Street.

After the ride, the all-ages Bike Expo will take place from 9-11 a.m. Bike inspections, helmet fit checks, and lessons on how to change a tire will be provided to participants free of charge; the event will also include giveaways and raffles.

Children under 10, meanwhile, can enjoy a bike “rodeo” and guided obstacle courses designed to teach and encourage safety after the community ride.

The event will be hosted in partnership with Temple City Bike Shop and Active SGV, a local nonprofit that promotes active and public transportation throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
