Personal Injury Crash

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 02/02/2020 at 0958 Hours, his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred on Decatur Rd North of Fosdick St. in Volinia Township, Cass County Michigan. Investigation shows 50 year old South Bend resident, Yvonna Bruce, was south bound on Decatur Rd when she rear ended a vehicle that was parked off the roadway waiting on a wrecker from a previous car deer accident. The second vehicle belonged to 43 year old Granger resident, Michael Lorenz. Lorenz was outside of his vehicle at the time of the crash. Bruce had three passengers in her vehicle. The front seat passenger, Julia Applewhite, 18 year old South Bend resident, was transported by Life Care EMS to Borgess Lee Memorial for minor injures. All occupants of Bruce's vehicle were wearing seatbelts. No alcohol or drugs were suspected to be contributing to this crash. This incident remains under investigation.
