IMPD Detectives seek suspect information from shots fired at IMPD officers in residential area

INCIDENT LOCATION: 3200 N. Keystone Avenue
 
INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detectives are asking for the community's assistance in identifying a vehicle of interest. Detectives are attempting to gather information on a silver Ford Fusion, possibly with tinted windows, shown in the attached picture. The vehicle may have recent damage to either side.

On January 28, 2020, just after 2:33 p.m., officers with IMPD were proactively patrolling the area of 3000 N. Keystone Avenue when they attempted to intiate a traffic stop on a silver Ford Fusion with an In God We Trust license plate, number ATJ371. The vehicle refused to stop and led the officers on a vehicle pursuit to the area of 3200 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle fired shots at an officer at the intersection of College Avenue and Fairfield. The vehicle continued on and the pursuit ended near the intersection of 32nd Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, where at least one shot was fired at officers. No officer or civilian was injured during the course of this incident. The involved officers did not return fire.

Homicide Investigators from the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) have taken the lead on the criminal investigation, standard procedure in an investigation involving shots fired at a law enforcement officer. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence.
