Gang Leader Arrested in Marietta
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Safe Streets Gang Task Force-Atlanta Division, Cobb County Police Department (CCPD), and City of Marietta Police Department (MPD) Gang Abatement Program Unit arrested Tony L. Menefee a/k/a “Brim Major” at 6:00 AM this morning. Menefee, an identified leader of the criminal street gang known as “Dem Marietta Boys” / “Brim bloods” was arrested at Sedgefield Apartments in Marietta. Menefee is the tenth member of the gang arrested as part of a four year ongoing investigation. Menefee is in a Federal Detention Holding Facility in Atlanta facing the following charges:
State Charges:
- VGCSA Intent to Distribute MDMA (F), 16-8-7
- Possession of stolen firearm (F), 16-13-30(b)
- Violation of Criminal Street Gang Act, (F) 16-15-4(a)
- Possession of Marijuana Less than an Ounce, 16-13-2(2)
Federal Charges:
- Possession of Stolen Firearm, 18 USC 922(j)
- Possession of firearm by drug user, 18 USC 922 (g)(3)
Chief Flynn noted: “This complex ongoing investigation would not be possible without the partnership with, and assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Cobb County Police Department (VIPER and CAGE units) and the Cobb County District Attorney’s office. We thank each of these partner agencies and everyone who assisted with this important investigation. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, this criminal gang has been disrupted and these local gang members will be held accountable for their actions.”
