Deputies investigated a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on Palmdale Rd. near Borego Rd.

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Palmdale Road / Borego Road, Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Friday, January 24, 2020, at approximately 6:49 PM, deputies from the Victorville Station and rescue personnel from the Victorville City Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision on Palmdale Road near the intersection of Borego Road. Upon arrival, deputies determined a gray Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling east on Palmdale Road and a pedestrian was walking south across Palmdale Road. The pedestrian was wearing all dark clothing and crossed Palmdale Road in front of the Chevrolet, causing the collision to occur.
Medical personnel with American Medical Response were driving by and witnessed the collision. The medical personnel stopped and began life saving measures. Medical personnel transported the pedestrian to a local hospital while continuing to perform life saving measures. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver of the Chevrolet sustained no injuries and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision. Palmdale Road, between Cahuenga and McArt, was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
