Update on Jan. 20 Residential Fire

On January 20, 2020, at approximately 9:50 pm, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety responded to the 600 block of East Weddell Drive for a structure fire reported at one of the mobile homes.  DPS reported that A 71-year-old male victim was located deceased inside the mobile home and a 67-year-old female victim was rescued and removed from the mobile home.  She was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Sadly, we have learned recently that the female victim has passed away.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office will be responsible for releasing the victim’s identifying information.

The fire remains under investigation, but at this point, it appears to be accidental in nature. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety would like to thank the Santa Clara County Fire Investigation Task Force for their assistance.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Detective Scott McCulloch at (408) 730-7119 or [email protected].
