Update from the auto accident that occurred today at 3:26 PM on Powder Springs St near the intersection of Oregon Trail:
First and foremost, no apparent life-threatening injuries.
One adult female driver in an SUV, according to witnesses, entered the center left turn lane on Powder Springs Street Southbound and proceeded to use the turn lane as a travel lane.
According to the bus driver, the Marietta City School bus with one student on board was traveling Northbound on Powder Springs Street and entered the center turn lane, waiting to turn onto Hickory Drive. The bus driver reported seeing the SUV approaching and not appearing to slow down. The bus driver stated they pulled as far to the right within the turn lane as possible in order to avoid being hit head on. The approaching SUV sideswiped the stopped bus, causing the SUV to barrel roll.
Charges are pending against the driver of the SUV.
