Police Seek the Public's Help in Identifying Theft Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the below pictured male suspect in connection with a wallet theft that occurred on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

6th Precinct Police Officers responded to a Vailsburg area residence on a call of a theft. A woman reported that her wallet had been stolen from within the residence. A male attempted to withdraw cash from a credit card belonging to the victim at an area food market.

Detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect as part of this investigation. He is described as having a light complexion and wearing long dread locs that were covered with a stocking cap. He also has a full beard and mustache and was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt.

Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about this suspect to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
