Deputies investigated a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on Hesperia Rd. near D Street

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Hesperia Road / D Street, Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at approximately 5:48 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station and rescue personnel from the Victorville City Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision on Hesperia Road, between C Street and D Street. Upon arrival deputies determined that a white Nissan Frontier was traveling north on Hesperia Road and a pedestrian was on the east curb of Hesperia Road. For unknown reasons, the pedestrian stepped out into the northbound lanes of traffic causing the Nissan to strike the pedestrian.
Deputies arrived on scene and began life saving measures until medical personnel arrived. Medical personnel arrived and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital while continuing to perform life saving measures. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver of the Nissan sustained no injuries and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation.
Investigators are continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision. Hesperia Road, north of C Street and south of D Street, was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
