UPDATE: Taft Incident - Evacuation Recommendation, Shelter In Place Advisory Lifted

This is an update to a ReadyKern message sent on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, about a chemical release at Taft Manufacturing in Taft, CA. An evacuation recommendation was issued for those who live or work within 6 miles of the location. Those living between 6 and 9 miles of the location were advised to shelter in place. Kern County emergency responders have stopped the chemical release and finished cleanup operations. It has been determined that the area surrounding Taft Manufacturing is safe to re-enter. As of 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22nd, both the evacuation recommendation and shelter-in-place advisory for affected residents and businesses have been lifted. There are no advisories in place for the area surrounding Taft Manufacturing at this time. If you have an emergency, call 911.
