Man facing multiple charges following vehicle and foot chases

Deputy David Jones of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Justin Bradford Davis, 32, address listed as Sparrow Drive in Granite Falls, with fleeing to elude arrest, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while license revoked, speeding, reckless driving to endanger, driving left of center, failure to heed a blue light or siren and failure to stop for a stop sign.
At 2:53 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, Jones was standing at the intersection of Sugar Hill and Goose Creek roads, surveying damage to road signs and mailboxes, when a Volvo approached at a high rate of speed and nearly hit the deputy.
Jones got into his patrol car and pursued the Volvo from Sugar Hill Road to Zion Hill Road to Nix Creek Road and finally onto Lytle Mountain Road, where the vehicle turned into a field and traveled a quarter of a mile before dropping 10 to 12 feet down an embankment into a creek bed.
The driver of the automobile, later identified as Davis, fled on foot, and, after a chase, was apprehended by Jones.
During the vehicle pursuit, Davis was speeding, failed to stop for a stop sign and drove left of center multiple times. A check of the Volvo revealed that it was stolen from Taylorsville.
