Sexually Violent Predator Notification - Jacumba Hot Springs
This is the San Diego County Sheriff's Department with a safety message on Friday, January 17th.
If you live in Jacumba Hot Springs and Boulevard, be aware a sex offender will soon be living in your community.
THOMAS CORNWELL is a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) who will be living at 2135 McCain Valley Road in Jacumba Hot Springs on or before January 31, 2020.
Sheriff's Deputies and members of the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force went door to door on Friday, January 17th to notify the community about Cornwell's placement.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department, District Attorney’s Office and SAFE Task Force are not responsible for the selection of Cornwell's placement location. The selection process was the responsibility of the California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) and the San Diego Superior Court.
Thomas Cornwell served time in prison for molesting children between 1990 and 2008. He is not wanted by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department at this time.
California Penal Code Section 290, also known as “Megan’s Law,” permits law enforcement agencies to warn the community about sex offenders who frequent the area. The purpose of this notice is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and/or their children from sex offenders.
This notification is not intended to induce fear; rather it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community. Use of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass the subject or any other person will not be tolerated and may result in prosecution.
The SAFE Task Force is composed of participating and member agencies in San Diego County, including state, local and federal agencies. They all believe an informed community is a safe community. For more information about SAFE, visit http://sdsafe.org.
