Crimes Against Children Detectives arrested a registered sex offender for sexual battery against a minor

VICTIM: 17-year-old female
SUSPECT: Antonio Atilano, 60 years old, resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, November 27, 2019 Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Crimes Against Children Division (CAC), began an investigation into a reported sexual abuse of a minor. Following an extensive investigation, detectives from CAC identified Atilano as the suspect. Investigators learned Atilano had a prior felony conviction in the State of California for Sexual Battery and is required to register as a sex offender per California Penal Code section 290.
CAC, in collaboration with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Fontana Station, arrested Atilano on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Atilano was booked at the West Valley Detention Center for PC 243.4 (J) Sexual Battery Against a Minor with a Prior Felony Conviction. Atilano’s bail was set at $500,000.
