Shoplifting call leads to arrest of Evansville man on multiple charges.

On January 16, 2019, at 2:38 p.m. loss prevention associates at Menards located at 201 S Richland Creek Drive located a possible shoplifter in the store and notified Gibson County Central Dispatch. Princeton Officers were dispatched to the scene and began an investigation. During the investigation Deputy Jennifer Loesch and Brian Naas joined the investigation taking 44-year-old Jonathan Bunton of Evansville into custody. During the joint investigation between the Princeton Police Department and Gibson County Sheriff’s Office Mr. Bunton was found to be in possession of unpaid Menards items when he passed the last point of sales in the building. Further investigation found that Mr. Bunton was also in possession of Marijuana, Methamphetamines, and a Hypodermic Needle. At the end of the investigation Deputy Jennifer Loesch and Deputy Brian Naas placed Mr. Bunton into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Theft (with a prior conviction), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamines, and Unlawful Possession of a Hypodermic Needle. He has since posted a $750 bond.

Assisting Princeton Officers were Chief Derek McGraw, Sgt J.D. Clark, Sgt. Steve McNeece, Jeremy Robb, and Jason Swan.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
