5k Run to Support Special Olympic Athletes of Northern California
The Fremont Police Department is hosting a 5k run/walk in support of Special Olympic athletes on April 25, 2020 at 8:30 AM. Participants of the Fremont Guardians Unite will have an exclusive opportunity to see the actual torch for this year’ Special Olympics NorCal Summer Games. You will be able to wind through the course with Fremont Guardians, receive high-fives from Special Olympic athletes, all while supporting the cause for inclusion. Our Fremont Guardians will line the course with inspirational quotes and milestone markers along the way to help keep participants smiling throughout the run. The 2020 Torch Run T-shirts will be available for purchase at the event for $20.00.

Registration includes a special Fremont Guardians Unite headband. Finishers will receive a medal sponsored by the Fremont Police Association. The first 50 registrants will receive a free pair of LETR Socks perfect for race day.

9:45 am – Finisher Awards/Closing Ceremony
Age-group medals (3 deep for each gender) will be awarded in the following divisions:
18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & over
Fees:
Child Registration 5 - 10 years: $20
Teen Registration (11 - 17 years): $35/ $40 Race Day
Adult Registration: $40/ $45. Race Day
The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Known honorably as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the “Flame of Hope” into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics State, Provincial, National, Regional and World Games. Annually, almost 110,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the “flame of Hope”, symbolizing courage and celebration of diversity uniting communities around the globe.
