...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT... .An approaching storm system is expected to create another episode of widespread rainfall across all of extreme southeast Kansas and the Missouri Ozarks. Storm total amounts from Thursday evening into Saturday morning will range from roughly an inch to around an inch and three quarters. Due to saturated soil conditions combined with the lack of vegetation in the winter time, small streams, creeks, and rivers will be very susceptible to flooding. The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford. In Missouri, Barry, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Greene, Hickory, Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Miller, Morgan, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, Shannon, St. Clair, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright.

* From Friday morning through late Friday night

* Widespread rainfall is expected to range from roughly an inch to an inch and three quarters. Soil conditions along with the lack of vegetation in the winter time will also contribute to flooding of small streams, creeks, and rivers.

* Flooding of low water crossings and low lying roadways near streams, creeks, and rivers is expected to occur.
