WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR MARION COUNTY FROM 5 PM THURSDAY TO NOON FRIDAY. MIXED PRECIPITATION EXPECTED

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THURSDAY TO NOON CST FRIDAY...Russell-Lincoln-Barton-Ellsworth-Saline-Rice-McPherson-Marion-Chase-Reno-Harvey-Butler-Greenwood-Woodson-Allen-Kingman-Sedgwick-Harper-Sumner-Cowley-Elk-Wilson-
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations
of up to one inch and ice accumulations of up to two tenths of
an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE...Central, South Central and Southeast Kansas.
* WHEN...From 5 PM Thursday to noon CST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Slick roads, parking lots, and sidewalks are expected.
Even a small amount of ice accumulation can create hazardous
conditions and could impact the Thursday evening and Friday
morning commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...In south central and southeast Kansas, snow followed by mixed precipitation is expected Thursday afternoon
and early evening while freezing rain appears more likely later
in the evening and overnight periods. In central Kansas, snow
and/or sleet may persist longer before transitioning to a wintry
mix. Therefore, the main concern at this time for southern areas
within the advisory will be lighter snow amounts but greater ice
accumulation (up to around two tenths of an inch) from freezing
rain. Further north in central Kansas, lighter ice accumulation
but potentially a heavier snow/sleet accumulation will be the
primary concern.
