On the evening of January 8th, Fairfield Police Dispatch received a call from a resident about a possible prowler in the 1800 block of Sycamore Drive. While the resident was on the phone with dispatchers, she relayed the subject was in her yard, starting to take off his pants, and then looked like he was going to enter the house through a pet door.
Officers quickly arrived at the residence and located the man. When officers attempted to contact him, he fled jumping over fences in the neighborhood. Officers gave chase and apprehended him a short distance away. Officers identified the man as Leroy Vance, a 48-year-old local to the area. While checking into Vance, we learned he was wanted by parole for a violation of his terms. Vance is on parole for a drug sales offense and is required to register as a sexual assault offender. To make matters worse, Vance had cut off his ankle monitor he is required to wear. Vance was booked into the Solano County Jail for violation of his parole, possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.
Please pay attention to your surroundings, even at home just like this resident. Luckily, she was able to locate the subject on her property, stay inside her residence and call us. She provide detailed information to assist in our response and officers were there in under two minutes. Officers obviously cannot be everywhere all the time, but while working together we were able to resolve the incident and arrest the offender quickly.
