Crime Alert Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Wednesday, 01-01-20 at 4:40 a.m., Officer Mahan and Officer Brenes were dispatched to the Carl’s Junior restaurant on a report of a male who appeared to be intoxicated and was ramming his vehicle into a parked vehicle. Officer Shoopman arrived on scene first, attempted to contact the driver, and advised that the subject attempted to hit him with his vehicle and quickly fled the scene. Later that morning, detectives and officers from the crime suppression unit took the subject into custody. The subject, a 25-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, felony vandalism and resisting arrest.

On Thursday, 01-02-10 at 12:50 a.m., Officer Mahan and Officer Brenes were dispatched to a residence on the 600 block of Serramonte Boulevard on a report of a family disturbance. When the officers arrived, they saw two males and two females who appeared to be engaged in an argument. One of the females approached Officer Brenes and told her, as she was crying, that the male hit her. The same female, a 22-year old Oakley resident, whispered to Officer Brenes that there was a gun in one of the subject’s waistbands. After an investigation, the officers arrested a 19-year old Richmond resident for possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a serial number, and possession of a concealed firearm inside of a vehicle. Several officers also responded and observed that the subject showed strong signs of paranoia as he attempted to hide in the corner of the room because he thought people were looking for him. The subject admitted to using methamphetamine that morning and could not follow simple commands while taking a field sobriety test. Officers determined that the reporting party was actually the one who had driven the vehicle. They arrested the subject, a 21-year old San Bruno resident, for driving under the influence of alcohol and for filing a false police report.

On Sunday, 01-05-20 at 7:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Home Depot parking lot on a report of a strong-armed robbery of a purse. The victim, a 44-year old San Francisco resident, said she was in the parking lot when she felt someone come up from behind her and attempt to pull her purse that was across her chest. The victim had her cell phone in her hand and lost control of it when the suspect was attempting to steal her purse. The victim struggled with the suspect who overpowered her with his strength, causing her to fall the ground. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse strap and pulled it from her, dragging her approximately a half of a foot before she let go of her purse. The suspect ran into an awaiting older model white car. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, between 5’8”-5’10” wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue ripped jeans and gray sneakers. Another suspect was in the area who was only described as black male, 5’8”-5’10” with an average build. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
