A single-vehicle fatal traffic collision occurred near the intersection of Foothill Blvd and San Bernardino Rd

LOCATION: Near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and San Bernardino Road, City of Rancho Cucamonga
DRIVER: Name withheld pending next of kin notification, 67-year-old male, resident of Pomona
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, January 08, 2020, at approximately 1:15 p.m., deputies assigned to the city of Rancho Cucamonga responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and San Bernardino Road. Upon arrival, deputies found a small pick-up truck collided with a tree while driving north through the parking lot on the northwest corner of the intersection. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver died upon arrival at the hospital.
Deputies from the Region I Major Accident Investigation Team arrived on the scene and assumed the collision investigation. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
