Duarte Crime Blotter for December 29 - January 4, 2020

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of 12-29-19 thru 1-4-20:        
 
December 29, 2019

  • No significant activity.
 
December 30, 2019
  • Grand Theft Auto:
Between December 22, 2019 and December 29, 2019, unknown persons stole two “2019 Zong TT250” motorcycles from the 1400 block of 1st Street. Both motorcycles are still outstanding. 
 
  • Accidental Fire:
At approximately 3:20 p.m., a structure fire was reported in the 3000 block of Freeborn Avenue. L.A. County Fire extinguished the fire which was contained to the garage. The fire damaged a truck parked inside the garage as well as the garage itself. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical. Damage was estimated at approximately $70,000.
 
December 31, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 2 a.m., deputies were checking the 1400 block of Central Avenue where recent stolen vehicles have been recovered, when they contacted an adult male sleeping in a vehicle. During the investigation, it was determined the male had been on probation for possession of a controlled substance. After further investigation, the male was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and arrested.     
 
January 1, 2020
  • Aggravated Assault Arrest:
At approximately 2 a.m., the victim was driving westbound in the 2100 block of Huntington Drive, when an adult male standing on the sidewalk threw a large rock at the victim’s vehicle, striking the rear quarter panel. The victim pulled over and maintained a visual of the suspect while calling 911. Deputies detained an adult male behind a business who matched the suspect description of the suspect. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.
 
  • Grand Theft Auto:
Sometime between 9 p.m. on December 31 and 12 p.m. on January 1, unknown persons stole a 2008 Pontiac G6 from the 1800 block of Second Street. The vehicle was recovered on January 7, 2020 by Azusa PD.
 
January 02, 2020
  • Vehicle Burglary:
A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1300 block of Mountain Avenue.  Between 5 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., unknown persons shattered the victims front passenger window and ransacked the interior of the vehicle.The victim was unsure if anything was missing at the time of the report.
