Deputy Uses Tourniquet and Training to Save Life
What: Hundreds of life-saving tourniquets have been issued to specially trained Harris County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies in the past year. On Dec. 30, 2019, Deputy D. Landry was among several deputies dispatched to a shooting at a home in the 14600 block of Waldine, where he applied tourniquets to the legs of two gunshot victims. One of the men had been shot through the femoral artery and it’s likely that Deputy Landry’s actions saved his life.
On Wednesday, body camera video footage of Deputy Landry’s life-saving actions will be released and Sheriff’s Office personnel will demonstrate the tourniquet training they have received.
