Marion County Prosecutor's Office files charges for murder that occurred in April 2019

INDIANAPOLIS- On April 7th, 2019, 17 year old Leandre Lane was killed in the 3400 block of N. Franklin Rd..  Today, January 2,2020
29-year-old Dewayne Harris was formally charged by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office with:
Murder, Felony Murder, Robbery and Felony Firearm Possession. 

A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.



 


RUN TYPE: Homicide investigation

INCIDENT LOCATION:  3400 N. Franklin Rd.

INDIANAPOLIS – Just before 3:00 p.m. on April 7, 2019, IMPD officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Franklin Rd. for a person shot. Responding officers arrived at the location and observed an unresponsive male victim with a gunshot wound along the road.  IEMS responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene.  Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began gathering information from witnesses.  Detectives have confirmed the victim and a friend were walking down the street when a vehicle drove by and an occupant of the vehicle fired a weapon, striking the 17-year-old male.
 
The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will be assisting with determining the exact cause and manner of death of the victim. The MCCO will release the name of the victim once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
