Traffic stop leads to arrest of Ft. Branch man.

On January 1st, 2020 at approximately 3:25 a.m. Sgt. John Fischer was patrolling US 41 near Dead Man`s Curve when he clocked a vehicle traveling at 72 m.p.h. heading north. The vehicle also had a passenger side headlight out. Sgt. Fischer turned around and caught up to the vehicle, which was a black 2005 Toyota 4-Runner. Sgt. Fischer observed the vehicle turn to head East on State Road 168. Sgt. Fischer initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Lane Winget, age 18 of Fort Branch. While speaking to Mr. Winget, Sgt. Fischer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and or person. Mr. Winget was arrested and transported to the Gibson County Jail and charged with Minor Consumption. Arresting officer was Sgt. John Fischer. Deputy Marshal Jeff Beck assisted with the stop.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
