Traffic accident leads to arrest of Evansville man.

On December 29, 2019, at 5:28 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a 911 report of an accident in the area of US 41 and County Road 800 South in Fort Branch. Upon arriving on scene Sgt. John Fischer spoke with 34-year-old Marcus Osborne of Evansville who was the driver of a Silver 2019 Hyundai that was involved in the two vehicle accident. While speaking with Mr. Osborne Sgt. Fischer detected the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Further Sgt. Fischer detected the odor of alcohol coming from Mr. Osborne and other clues that might indicated that Mr. Osborne was operating the vehicle while under the influence. At that point Sgt. Fischer conducted a roadside investigation that resulted in Mr. Osborne being taken into custody. Mr. Osborne was transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. He remains in custody on a $1500 bond.

Assisting Sgt. Fischer in his investigation was Gibson County Deputy Zach Lienemann and Haubstadt Officer Joshua Hoover. This was a property damage accident only and the occupants of the other vehicle were released from the scene. However additional charges may be pending on other individuals in Mr. Osborneā€™s vehicle.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
