Historical Missing Person's Report: What happened to David Damron?
What happened to David Damron?
Over the last two months, the Novato Police Department released the stories of two missing persons whom we have never found, Nicholas Cunfermann and Betty Whitaker. As part of this recurrent feature on historical missing person cases, this month we bring to you the case involving David Damron.
In January of 1989, David Damron left his Novato residence and went on a fishing trip in Mendocino County. The following day, Mendocino Sheriff Deputies and State Park officials located Damron’s vehicle parked near Highway 1 and north of Van Damme State Park. A search for Damron was conducted but he was never found. Items belonging to Damron were found along the ocean edge. During the course of this investigation which spans 30 plus years, Damron’s dental records were added to the case. The Novato Police Department was never able to locate any family members related to Damron that we could collect a DNA sample from. Damron continues to be listed as a missing person in the State of California Missing Persons Database, and also within NAMUS, the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. David has been missing for 44 years. As of today, he would be 75 years old.
