On December 28, 2019 at approximately 9:30 PM, the victim was exiting her vehicle in the 1300 block of Olive Avenue when she was approached from behind by the suspect, who placed an object that was believed to be a knife to her back and demanded money from her purse. The suspect then threatened the victim and groped her while removing her purse, which was slung across her body. During the assault, a vehicle drove through the area and interrupted the attack. In seeing the vehicle, the victim screamed for help, which startled the suspect. The suspect fled on foot westbound on Olive Avenue toward Fourth Street with the victim’s purse.
The suspect is described as an adult male, unknown race, 5’09 to 6’00 tall, weighing approximately 200-240 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing, including a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, black sweatpants and black leather gloves. The suspect was believed to be armed with a knife. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.
We are requesting that anyone who has surveillance cameras in their home or business near Fourth Street and Olive Avenue, to check your cameras to see if they captured any of the assault or the suspect’s flight. As a result of this incident, we will be increasing our patrols in this area.
