Sgt. Demski Retires after 22 Years with The Novato Police Department

Yesterday, was Sgt. Demski’s last day before he rides off towards a well-deserved retirement after 22 years with The Novato Police Department. His dedication to NPD & our community has made him a fundamental part of our family. Forever grateful and THANK YOU for your service!

After Jay worked in the Corporate world for about 10 years, he had the opportunity to attend the San Rafael PD citizen police academy in 1997.  During the first night of class, he knew in his heart that his destiny was helping others. While working full time, he put himself through the extended format police academy and was hired on with Novato PD January 5, 1998.

During his 22 years with NPD, Jay has served as FTO, SWAT operator, Firearms Instructor, Identity Theft instructor, Tactical Communications instructor, and Principled Policing instructor. He promoted to Sergeant in 2002.  During his 16 years on SWAT, he moved up to team leader after 10 years, and was also appointed Tactical Commander.  Jay has also served 2.5 years with the Northern California Computer Crimes Task Force, where he was the supervisor of the Identity Theft Unit investigating cases all over the state.

Jay is grateful for his fulfilling years at this Department, and for the opportunity to have helped so many wonderful people.  Finally, Jay also feels blessed for having been able to do something he loves for 22 years.

"Take care of business, make us proud, and have fun."

Best Wishes Jay! You will be missed, but we’ll take it from here. Enjoy your retirement!!
