During a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle, deputies found 14 lbs. of marijuana and evidence of identity theft

SUSPECT: Norman Wypycha, 49 years old, resident of Colton
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, December 25, 2019 a deputy from the Highland Police Department conducted a license plate check on a 2018 black Chevy Suburban parked at a business. The vehicle was found to be stolen. A traffic stop was later initiated, and once stopped, an unknown Hispanic male fled from the passenger side of the vehicle. The driver, identified as Norman Wypycha, was taken into custody. An investigation revealed the vehicle was purchased from a dealership by a suspect using a stolen identity.
During a search of the vehicle deputies located 14 pounds of marijuana, a stolen Outback restaurant pay at the table credit card reader, several stolen credit cards, mail, identification cards, social security cards and checks. Wypycha was booked at West Valley Detention Center on several charges including identity theft, possession of stolen property and transportation of marijuana.
The passenger has not been identified.
