Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over This Holiday Season
National Enforcement Campaign through New Year’s
The Arcadia Police Department encourages everyone attending holiday parties and gatherings where alcohol may be involved to use a designated sober driver.
This holiday season, from Dec. 13 to New Year’s, The Arcadia Police Department will have more officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
“The Arcadia Police Department encourages our residents and community members to have a strategy in place to prevent drunk driving during this holiday season and throughout the year. Take the proper steps to avoid drunk driving: 1) Always choose a non-drinking designated driver; 2) If you go out and drive alone - do not drink alcohol; 3) Never give into pressure to drink and drive; 4) Observe your surroundings– don’t let family and friends drive drunk, and most importantly; 5) Once you’ve been drinking, don’t drive yourself home. There simply is no excuse to drink and drive – ever! Together, we can make a difference.”
The Arcadia Police Department also reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs and marijuana can also impair, especially in combination with alcohol and other drugs.
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
