Update: 

Virginia Bucoy was located by the Marin County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team on a trail that runs to the open space off Posada Del Sol. Virginia had been down on the trail for several hours, prompting the need for a medical rescue. The Marin County Sheriff's Office assisted early on in the investigation and was requested to search the open space and residential area near Virginia's residence. The Marin SAR deployed search teams on foot, bicycles, with search dogs and deployed drones to conduct an aerial of the open space. At 7:45 AM, one of the SAR teams located Virginia down on a trail and she appeared to be in need of medical attention. Virgina was transported to a local hospital, where she was reunited with her husband.

We would like to thank the Marin County Sheriff's Office and the Marin County Search and Rescue Teams that assisted in locating Virginia. We would also like to thank the community members who shared our story on social media. We appreciate the teamwork and partnerships that helped this case come to a successful conclusion.

On December 23, 2019 at 3:15 AM, Novato Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on Madrid Court in the Posada Del Sol area regarding a missing elderly female, Virginia Bucoy (79 years old). Virginia was last seen at her residence by her husband. At 3:00 AM, her husband awoke to find that she had left her residence on foot. Virgina was last seen wearing grey and white pajama pants with pin stripes. Virginia is 5'7, 135 pounds with short white hair and suffers from Dementia. Virginia may be on foot and there is no known destination at this time.
