Crime Alert Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Wednesday, 12-04-19 at 1:13 p.m., Officer Mulitauopele was dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of Abbot Avenue on a report of a robbery. The victim, a 76-year old Daly City resident, said he walked out of his house and towards his car when he noticed a newer model white Chrysler sedan stop in front of his driveway. The victim said a female stepped out of the passenger side and walked up to him, telling him it was her birthday. The victim said the female was holding gold chain necklaces and wanted to give him the jewelry because she likes Filipinos. The victim said the female then started embracing him and kissing his cheeks. The victim told the female “no”, and as he pushed her away, he said she started putting all of the necklaces on him and handed him some gold rings. The victim said the female, described as Middle Eastern about 34-40 years old wearing a brown and black Indian-style dress with black pants, then got back into the vehicle and left southbound on Abbot Avenue towards East Moltke Street. The victim said the driver was a Middle Eastern male in his late 30’s or 40’s. The victim said he checked to see if he was still wearing his own gold chains, but he could not find them. The victim showed the officer the gold chains and rings the female left him. This investigation is continuing.

On Wednesday, 12-04-19 at approximately 4:44 p.m., Officer Jackson-Berrios was dispatched to the carport area of South Mayfair Avenue and Forest Grove Drive on a report of a white bald male wearing gray clothing who had needles, was dancing and taking off his clothes. Officer Jackson-Berrios arrived to find a subject matching the description and asked him if he had any weapons or anything illegal on him. The officer found a foldable knife in the subject’s pocket. Officer Jackson-Berrios saw an orange cap near the subject’s items on the ground and asked the subject if he had any needles. The subject admitted to using heroin the night prior, and the officer conducted tests to determine if the subject was under the influence. The subject, a 49-year old Oakdale resident, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for a misdemeanor warrant.

Officer Chow arrived and was speaking with one of the victims when another victim came up to them and said, “There he goes! That’s him!” and pointed to a subject on a bicycle. Officer Chow ran across the street, up the hill and told the subject to stop. After an investigation, Officer Chow booked the suspect, a 15-year old Daly City resident, into the Youth Services Center for two counts of burglary and for a robbery case that occurred in November.

Officer Maddison arrived and detained the subject in front of the emergency room. The Seton Hospital security officer said the emergency department medical staff requested him to assist in dispersing the male as he was refusing to leave the property following multiple requests from staff. While the security officer was escorting the subject from the hospital, he said the subject threatened to beat the officer and advised he had pepper spray on his person. As they were going through the front door, the subject kicked the front glass sliding door, causing it to fall of the track and to the ground. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
