NEWS RELEASE: Suspicious Circumstances Maple Ave. / Harding Ave.
Montebello, CA - This morning at approximately, 8:00 AM, a concerned resident observed suspicious activity on the southwest corner of Maple Ave. and Harding Ave. in the city of Montebello.
While walking her granddaughter to school (Washington Elementary) in the 400 block of N. Maple Ave. she saw an unknown man grab a female child by the mouth and waist. The child screamed, “Let go of me,” and, “mom!” The resident continued to walk to the school where she contacted a school volunteer to report what she saw. Shen then walked back to the area of Maple Ave. and Harding Ave.to look for the female and male, but they were no longer there.
Police Officers and Investigators from the Montebello Police Department were contacted at approximately 9:00 AM and responded to conduct their investigation.
Investigators from Montebello Police Department, MUSD School police along with school officials have accounted for all absent female children from both Washington Elementary and Montebello Intermediate schools.
In an abundance of caution, Investigators are attempting to locate the female and male to determine if a crime has occurred.
The female is described as Hispanic with dark hair, approximately 9-11 years old wearing a red and black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black backpack.
The male is described as Hispanic possibly in his 30’s with dark skin, a thin build with short hair with light-colored highlights in with a goatee wearing a grey sweater and blue jeans with torn knees in them.
