The holidays are upon us and the Petaluma Police Department is starting to see more reports of package thefts.  While the number of reports is down from last year, there are still many days left in the Holiday Shopping Season. 
 

The best protection is still prevention. To protect your packages from being stolen, there are a few things you can do:
 

• Send packages to a secure location, like Amazon Lockers.
• Provide delivery instructions.
• Schedule packages to arrive when your home, then track their progress.
• Require a signature.
• Consider installing a package theft alarm.
• Consider installing parcel box near delivery door.
• Post a warning sign.
• Install a front door security camera or video doorbell.
• Install a motion activated spotlight.

 
If you any suspicious persons or vehicles in your neighborhood, call the police department and report their description and direction of travel.  Have a safe Holiday Season.
