Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in Central Islip last night.
Four men were sitting in a 2016 Nissan Altima on East Cedar Street, near Prospect Avenue, when two men approached the driver’s side of the vehicle on foot at approximately 6:35 p.m. One of the two men fired two shots through the driver’s window with a handgun. A 25-year-old man sitting in the front passenger seat was struck once in the leg. The 20-year-old male driver was injured by shattered glass from the window. Two male passengers in the backseat were not injured. The suspects fled on foot.
The victims self-transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
