Two brothers – ages 13 and 17 – are suspected of breaking into Lynn Middle School on Sunday where they burglarized and vandalized the property.

Late Sunday afternoon, Las Cruces police were dispatched to Lynn Middle School after a custodian witnessed two juveniles inside the school. The two boys fled the school but were located by police and taken into custody.

Investigators learned the two brothers, ages 13 and 17, broke a window and entered the school about 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. The two boys went in and out of the school throughout the day. The boys are suspected of stealing food and damaging a vending machine along with clothing and a computer from at least one classroom. Investigators also determined the boys gained entry and caused damage to classrooms and property within the school.

Damage estimates are expected to be well more than $1,000.

Both boys were issued Juvenile Class III Citations charging them with non-residential burglary, larceny and criminal damage to property. Both were referred to the Juvenile Probation Office and turned over to the custody of a parent.
