Man Suspected of Using Knives to Threaten Partner
Police arrested a man suspected of arming himself with a pair of kitchen knives and using them to threaten his partner during a domestic dispute Thursday evening.
Dave Cecil Fraser Jr., 40, of the 800 block of north 17th Street, is charged with one fourth-degree felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one misdemeanor count of battery against a household member.
About 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, Las Cruces police learned of a domestic incident that occurred at Fraser’s apartment. Officers arrived to find a man who alleged he and Fraser got into an argument that turned physical. The victim also indicated Fraser armed himself with two kitchen knives that he used in a threatening manner.
Officers attempted to make contact with Fraser who was inside the apartment, but he refused to exit the residence. Investigators obtained a warrant for Fraser’s arrest, but he continued to disobey officers’ commands to exit. Police were forced to introduce chemical agents into the apartment which led to the safe apprehension of Fraser.
Fraser was taken into custody late Thursday evening and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he’s initially being held without bond.
