Water Boil Notice for selected areas in East Chicago.

The City of East Chicago, Indiana Water Department will be performing emergency repair work in the areas of the 5200 Block of Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana, on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 commencing at 9pm to 1am Thursday, December 5, 2019, relating to a compromised 12" water main line. Residents and businesses in the vicinity will experience interruption of their water services for approximately 4 hours, and the services will return upon completion of the emergency repair work which is expected to be completed in the early hours of Thursday, December 5th. The areas that will be affected and experience interruption of water services are as follows: 1. 5200 BLOCK OF INDIANAPOLIS BLVD. GOING SOUTH TO CARROLL STREET AND MICHIGAN STREET 2. 5200-5600 BLOCKS OF INDIANAPOLIS BLVD. GOING WEST TO WHITE OAK AVENUE 3. 5200-5600 BLOCKS OF INDIANAPOLIS BLVD. GOING EAST (SOUTH SHORE LINE STATION AND BUSINESS AREAS) 4. ROXANNA COMMUNITY AREAS As a result of the emergency repairs, a WATER BOIL ADVISORY is issued for the affected areas only until further notice. The advisory will remain in effect until water samples confirm the water is safe to drink, and a cancellation notice of the water boil advisory will follow. While this advisory is in effect, it is recommended that customers boil tap water vigorously for at least three minutes prior to using it for cooking, drinking, making ice, washing uncooked foods, etc. Should you experience discoloration in your water upon return of water services, please clear the pipes in your home and/or business by running all water faucets for a few minutes; or if you experience low water pressure or volume seems low, please check your faucets and washer screens for trapped debris. Residents and customers are requested to share this information with those who may not have received this message directly. The City apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for your cooperation.
