INCIDENT: School Threat

LOCATION: Beattie Middle School

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, Highland deputies responded to Beattie Middle School after receiving information from the school administrative staff, regarding a possible threat of a school shooting. At the time of the report school had been dismissed, but deputies were able to interview the involved party who made the alleged threat. Other involved students provided written statements about the incident and left the school.

Based on the investigation thus far, the threat was vetted and deemed to be unfounded. Additional interviews will be conducted at a later date. The issue appears to be isolated between two students who engaged in a verbal argument earlier in the day. There are no additional known threats to the school at this time.
