Early this morning (just after midnight), firefighters from the Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District and Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a house fire on Pleasant Point Drive, Lady's Island. On scene, it was learned that a man was still inside the fully engulfed residence, and that another man had made it out. The man trapped inside the house, 58-year-old Jeffrey Hile, died; the fire has since been extinguished. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and is under investigation by Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and Fire District personnel, who are currently on scene. The Beaufort County Coroner's Office scheduled a forensic autopsy to be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina Thursday morning.
