Nebo man facing numerous charges following pursuit

Deputy T.J. Madden of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Joshua Lee Mosteller, 39, address listed as Little Beagle Drive in Nebo, with possession of methamphetamine, possession of up to ½ ounce marijuana, fleeing to elude arrest, speeding, reckless driving to endanger, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting a public officer.
At 11:18 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, Madden stopped a red Kia Soul at the intersection of Old Highway 70 East and John Swafford Road for traffic violations.
The driver, identified as Mosteller, refused to obey Madden’s orders to give him his license and registration and, eventually, to step out of the vehicle.
Mosteller sped away, leading deputies on a pursuit in the area of John Swafford Road and Old Highway 10 East, during which time he drove recklessly off the road, sped, crossed the center line, stopped in the middle of the road, spun his tires and tried to ram his Kia into Madden’s patrol car.
At the intersection of N.C. 126 and U.S. 70 East, the suspect stopped his automobile and deputies raced in to apprehend him, but he sped up and took off again on U.S. 70 East. The pursuit continued onto Rolands Chapel Road, Old Highway 10 East, Wildlife Road and Ramsey Road, where Mosteller jumped from the vehicle and fled into the woods.
After a short chase, he was apprehended by Madden and Deputies Ryan Lambert and Steven McPeters. Once taken into custody, authorities found .30 gram of marijuana and .60 gram of methamphetamine in the suspect’s possession.
Mosteller was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for lacerations and released.
