#LASD MCB “Task Force” Arrests Individual Suspected in Over 20 Recent Southern California Armed Robberies

**SEEKING ANY POSSIBLE ADDITIONAL VICTIMS**

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s (LASD), Major Crimes Bureau (MCB), Burglary-Robbery Task Force (BRTF), arrested suspect Darryle Samuel for committing multiple armed robberies in a southern California crime spree, that lasted several weeks. The arrest was made Wednesday, November 20th, 2019, at approximately 1:00 PM.

The BRTF detectives, along with the Orange County Office of Alcohol, Tobacoo, Firearms (ATF), had been conducting an investigation into multiple recent Los Angeles County and Orange County retail store armed robberies.

Detectives determined these crime series, likely committed by a single suspect, began in early October 2019 with the last armed robbery occurring November 19, 2019.  The robberies spanned two counties and seven cities.  The lone suspect would approach store employees, point a handgun at them, and demand cash.

BRTF Investigators, with information provided by alert witnesses, along with keen police work by local patrol deputies, gathered information which lead them to identifying Darryle Samuel as the suspect. Detectives also identified the two vehicles used by the suspect in these crimes.

Following the arrest of the suspect, BRTF Detectives recovered a firearm, clothing worn, and cash, all believed to be related to the robberies.

Suspect Samuel, male Black 26 years-old, resident of Long Beach, was booked at Century Sheriff’s Station and held without bail. He was on active parole for a previous robbery conviction at the time of his arrest.

Darryle Samuel is a documented criminal street gang member with multiple felony convictions including robbery, weapons violations, carjacking and thefts. He will soon be transferred into federal custody where he faces felony indictments for the multiple recent armed robberies. If convicted, he is facing over 100 years in federal prison.

The investigation and arrest of this violent suspect is an example of the ongoing cooperation and collaboration between the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and Federal partners as these agencies are committed to impacting Southern California wide violent crimes. The LASD Major Crimes BRTF works closely and consistently with most Southern California agencies in its mission to identify, investigate, and arrest organized burglary and robbery suspects.
