Press Release for Assault on 11/29/2019 
On 11/29/19 approximately 2000 hours, the victim of an earlier robbery returned to Bay Street Mall. The victim located a group of juveniles who she believed to be associated with the suspect of the robbery. The victim asked members of the group to return her cell phone. The members of the group became aggressive with the victim and began to assault her.
An Off-Duty CHP Officer witnessed the juvenile group assaulting the victim and intervened. The group of juveniles became aggressive with the Off-Duty CHP Officer and began to violently assault him. The juveniles struck the Off-Duty CHP Officer multiple times and choked him unconscious. The Off-Duty CHP Officer regained consciousness and pepper sprayed a juvenile who was actively continuing the assault.
EPD Officers arrived and detained several juveniles. (2) Juveniles were positively identified and arrested, ages 14 and 16, for the assault.
