Snow Parking Ordinance Reminder

Attention residents: Reminder Parking is prohibited on Town roads when there is 3" of snow or more. Remember, you are allowed to park your vehicles in municipal lots overnight, as long as you comply with the normal daytime rules regarding time limitations and payments that may be required between 7am-7pm every day excluding Sundays.

Below are the Town of Boonton's Applicable Snow Parking Ordinances --->

§ 201-29. Parking prohibited during inclement weather. [Amended 3-21-2011 by Ord. No. 6-2011]It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to park any motor vehicle or other vehicle on any public street in the Town of Boonton between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., prevailing time, which during such period there shall be a covering of streets of at least three inches of snow as measured by the Shift Commander of the Boonton Police Department on the walkway in front of the flagpole at Town Hall on the Washington Street side. This parking prohibition shall remain in force during the eight-hour period following the cessation of such precipitation, except as defined below: A. This article shall not apply to duly licensed physicians or visiting nurses of the Town of Boonton making professional calls. B. This article shall not apply to any of the following roads, streets, and highways under the jurisdiction of the county, state, or federal government: 1) Main Street, West Main Street, Myrtle Avenue, Washington Street, Boonton Avenue. Parking is prohibited at all times on these streets from 2am-6am.

§ 201-30. Removal of snow-covered and plowed-in vehicles. It shall be unlawful for the owner or operator of any motor vehicle or other vehicle to allow said vehicle to remain parked on any street in the Town of Boonton beyond 24 hours after the street has been plowed of snow by snow removal crews. The Police Department is authorized to have vehicles removed upon expiration of the 24 hours and the owner's or operator's failure to remove said vehicle in that time. It shall be presumptive evidence that the vehicle has not moved if it is covered by snow and/or plowed-in with no indication that the vehicle's tires have run through the plowed snow around the vehicle.
