INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: D. Street and Hesperia Road, Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, November 30, 2019, at approximately 5:06 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a two vehicle traffic collision near the intersection of D. Street and Hesperia Road in the City of Victorville. Upon arrival, deputies located a black Toyota SUV partially off the roadway and a black Lexus SUV still in the lanes of westbound D. Street. The Victorville Fire Department and AMR were also on scene and located an unknown male adult pinned under the Lexus.
The Toyota SUV had become disabled westbound on D. Street and the two occupants exited the vehicle in an attempt to push the vehicle out of the roadway. A good Samaritan, who was in the area, began to assist in pushing the Toyota out of the roadway. The Lexus, also west on D. Street, approached the disabled vehicle and collided with the rear of the Toyota, striking and trapping the Samaritan under the vehicle. Attempts were made to assist the male, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The two occupants from the Toyota, and the driver, who was the sole occupant of the Lexus, were transported to a local area hospital for minor to moderate injuries. The investigation into whether drugs, alcohol or speed were a factor in the collision is continuing. Anyone with information or who may have been a witness to the collision is encouraged to contact Deputy Dekeyrel from the Victorville Sheriff’s Station or Deputy Rusk from the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station.
MAIT Investigators are continuing the investigation into the collision and the cause is unknown at the time. D. Street was closed between Eighth Avenue and Eleventh Avenue for several hours during the investigation.
