Advisory

Weather Alert - Ice Conditions Sunday Morning; Snow Possible Monday

WEATHER ALERT
A storm is expected to impact our community over the next two days. While the total snowfall amount is not that significant, the first ice / snow event brings added motor vehicle crashes and cars going off roadways. The highest chances for a significant impact from the storm is early Sunday with icing conditions and then again Monday afternoon with some snow covering the roads. Drivers are reminded to use reduced speeds and extra caution during these conditions.

South Brunswick Police will provide updates on road conditions during the storm on our Twitter account @SoBrunswickPD and on Nixle.

FORECAST
Wintry Mix Develops Early Sunday... Dry conditions will continue through tonight. Precipitation arrives in the area between 7 - 9 AM on Sunday morning. The main risk at the onset is for a period of sleet that likely coats all surfaces. Sleet transitions to rain and freezing rain mid-morning as precipitation becomes steadier. Therefore, the risk shifts over to an icing concern with freezing rain capable of producing a coating of ice. Temperatures rise above freezing midday and plain rain continues for much of the day Sunday.

Following this likely saltable event, attention turns to the backside of the system for Monday as cold air filters in, flipping precipitation back over to mainly snow. Currently, accumulations look saltable; however, a plowable event is still possible if a heavier band of snow sets up over the area.

OVERVIEW
FIRST PART OF STORM  - Sunday 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Coating - 1.0" Sleet plus an icing risk
SECOND PART OF STORM – Monday 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Snow steady at first, total accumulation coating to 1 inch
