THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER. An Avalanche Watch is in effect for the San Juan Mountains
* TIMING...Dangerous avalanche conditions are developing. Expect very dangerous avalanche conditions by Friday.
* AFFECTED AREA...All of the San Juan Mountains including the San Migeul Mountains, Rico Mountains, La Garita Mountains, Needle Mountains and La Plata Mountains.
* AVALANCHE DANGER...The avalanche danger rating is expected to reach HIGH (Level 4) on Friday.
* REASON...Heavy snowfall and strong winds will increase the avalanche danger. Large avalanches will become very easy to trigger. During periods of heavy snowfall avalanches will release naturally.
* AFFECTED AREAS: UNCOMPAHGRE PLATEAU/DALLAS DIVIDE ... EASTERN SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS ABOVE 10000 FT ... SOUTHWEST SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS ... LA GARITA MOUNTAINS ABOVE 10000 FT ... NORTHWESTERN SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS
