Winter Storm Warning until 05:00PM Saturday

* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory snow...moderate to heavy at times. Additional accumulations of 1 to 2 inches. For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 18 to 24 inches with locally higher amounts up to 40 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 to 55 mph.

* WHERE...Northwest San Juan Mountains and Southwest San Juan Mountains.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 5 PM Wednesday to 5 PM MST Saturday. For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 5 PM MST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. A detailed map of the snowfall can be found at: www.weather.gov/gjt/winter.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Near whiteout conditions are possible at times with some blowing and drifting of snow likely.
