The Town of Tryon is passing along this information at the request of the US Census:

The US Census is currently looking to hire people for temporary work.  The pay is $17/hr + mileage (58 cents/mile). Most of the jobs will be for next summer, as a Census Taker, collecting information door to door from those who did not fill in the Census as of April 1st. The job usually lasts 8-9 weeks.

The time of day and amount of hours worked is flexible - suitable for people who want to work part-time or full-time. Or for people who need to work around an existing job.

Yuo are encouraged to APPLY NOW, even if you don’t know what you will be doing when the Census calls. If you end up doing something else at the time of employment, you can always say no.  But you cannot say yes, if you don’t apply. 

The Census Board will be looking at applicants who apply now and will call applicants between mid-December and the end of February 2020, if being considered for a job.

The pay, if you live in Polk, Rutherford or Henderson Counties is:                              $17.00/hour   :   $680 – for a 40 hour work week.
